Welcome to Spring in the Valley! It brings us immense joy to kick off another delightful season here on the farm with all of you.
We’ve been bustling with activity, from hosting various events including our amazing Solar Eclipse event, tending to our vineyards and crafting our exceptional wines. Despite the multitude of tasks, we’re embracing each challenge with enthusiasm.
Let’s reflect on last year’s growing season as we’re still feeling the impacts from last year. Three frost events and a sudden cold snap around Christmas 2022 took a toll on our vines, particularly impacting our new block of vines, setting them back a year in their growth cycle. Such is the nature of agriculture—adapting to whatever curveballs Mother Nature throws our way. Thankfully, 2024 is shaping up to be a promising year. Our vines are showing signs of recovery, with the more mature ones bouncing back quicker than the younger ones. As of this writing (4/26), our new block is even scheduled to bear some fruit. We’re eagerly anticipating what the 2024 growing season has in store for us!
Meanwhile, our wine production remains steady as we work on curating our releases for the season and expanding into the wholesale market. Residents in the Indianapolis and Bloomington areas may soon find their favorite Owen Valley Winery wines gracing the shelves of their local liquor stores. If you don’t see our wines where you’d like them, please ask the store to carry our wines and let us know. Your feedback plays a pivotal role in guiding our wholesale endeavors and your references can make the difference!
In our kitchen, our culinary team is hard at work concocting new brunch boards and menu items tailored for the season. Additionally, we’re thrilled to announce the launch of our Supper Club! This dining experience will feature themed meals paired with wines that we have reserved in our Library. You may soon find some of your favorite wines of the past available for special occasions here in the tasting room. It promises to be a delightful fusion of culinary expertise and wine appreciation. Stay tuned for more details on this exciting venture!
