Winery Update, August 2023

What a joy this year has been for us at Owen Valley Winery, and we hope it has been for you as well.

Southern Indiana has experienced some crazy weather this year! The late-year frost combined with the recent winds and harsh hail have given our poor vines some trouble, but our new plants are establishing themselves just fine. In fact, due to some new trellising techniques we’ve adopted they look plum handsome. Grape handsome, if you will.

We are excited for our new releases and we hope you love them as much as we do! Our wonderfully complex Noiret is a perfect summertime red with plenty of spicy herbaceous notes to appreciate. Definitely a red wine to bring to the next BBQ you attend. And if you’re getting tired of the heat, we are precluding our favorite time of the year with our sweet and crisp classic Apple wine made from a blend of Indiana apples from Beasley’s Orchard!

We’ve recently acquired new storage tanks, a forklift, a ginormous walk-in freezer, and other doo-dads to let us bring you more wine more often. We are so very proud of how far we have come. Not only in terms of new neat equipment, but also in the quality of the wine we bring you. Several of our wines took home medals from the Indiana Wine & Spirits Competition at the State Fair. Most notably our 2021 Chambourcin brought home a Gold Medal which we are very proud of. (wine competition).

None of this could have been accomplished without the support of such a wonderful community of wine-lovers on our sides.

We thank you, with utmost sincerity. This ones for you.

Cheers, , The Leaderbrand Family & Very Supportive Staff
