Winery Update August 2025

I hope this note finds you well and enjoying your summer. Things have been full of life here at the winery early mornings in the vineyard, long days in the sun, and plenty of good food and wine shared with family and friends. This time of year always reminds us how lucky we are, especially when we see so many of you visiting, sharing meals, and enjoying our wines with the people you love. It truly means a lot to know our wine has a place at your table.

Weather-wise, this year has been intense. As of mid-July (July 30th of this writing), Spencer has seen 36.5 inches of rain up from 28.2 inches during the same stretch last year and the heat and humidity have been consistently higher, especially in late June and early July. That kind of weather speeds up vine growth but also creates real challenges: disease pressure, fruit stress, and long hours in the field managing it all. We’ve been adjusting canopy (leaf) coverage, watching the skies, and doing our best to guide the fruit through it safely. It’s taken a lot of care and, frankly, a lot of sweat.

Still, there’s something rewarding about a tough growing season. It reminds us how much we care about this land, these vines, and the people who make it possible—like you. The fruit is starting to come into its own, and while we’ve had to work harder this year, we’re optimistic that the grapes will show that same resilience in the glass. Sometimes, struggle adds a layer of depth you can’t get any other way.

Thank you for being part of this with us. Your membership means a great deal to my family and helps us keep doing what we love. We’re excited for what’s ahead and grateful to share it with you. Enjoy the rest of your summer—and keep a corkscrew close by.
