Hello Wine Club Members,
Another year has flown by, where does the time go! We hope you all had a wonderful holiday season and kicked off your New Year with some fantastic wine! Things at the winery have been COLD! While our bodies don’t enjoy the cold very much, our wines and grapes don’t mind it so much. It takes some incredibly cold weather to really bother the grapes, as some of our varieties are safe down to -30F! Usually we don’t get worried until we see temperatures in the -15F so here’s hoping things don’t get too cold. No matter the temperatures, before too long we will begin pruning in the vineyard. This multiple month long task involves cutting back new growth to restrict the amount of growth the vine can produce. If left unmanaged, they would develop into unrecoverable hedges. This timely task needs completed before May so no time to wait! Spring will be here before we know it!
Similarly, our wines actually benefit from the cold temperatures in the production room as the cold helps naturally clear the wines and precipitate our the solids. We actually have to bring the temperatures of our tanks down to 30F in order to stabilize the wines fully, and no better time of year to take advantage of the assisted cold than now! This ensure clear and stable wine all year long as we bottle or age our batches.
As we reflect on last year we can’t help but be thankful for the outgoing support from our friends and wine club members. Another year of increased growth in onsite sales, distribution sales, wine production, and wine club growth! The vineyard produced a bountiful harvest last year and from the looks of things, appears to be in excellent health. All signs point to 2024 being a fantastic year, and for that we’re so appreciative, so thank you!
Don’t worry, idle times are hard to come by around here as we continue on into 2025 working hard to keep all things up to snuff around the winery. Wine production is hard at work crafting the next batch of wonderful wines that we’re sure you’ll be pleased with. The kitchen and front of house are hard at work developing exciting new foods and events for the 2025 season. We can’t wait to share our new ideas with you as we get further into the year. For now though, stay warm, stay safe and we will see you soon.
